2026 National Mentorship Month with BBBSNN

RENO, NV — January 6, 2026 — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada (BBBSNN) is officially kicking off National Mentoring Month with a clear message; mentorship is an investment in the future of our community.

National Mentoring Month 2026

January is National Mentoring Month 2026, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada is shifting the conversation. As we look toward the future of our community, we recognize that mentorship is no longer just ‘nice to have’. It is a necessity. Today’s youth are navigating a rapidly changing world and complex mental health challenges that require more than occasional guidance. They require a consistent, one-on-one advocate to bridge the gap between where they are and where they have the potential to go.

This month, for National Mentoring Month, we invite you to join us as stewards of the next generation. Every hour a Big spends with a Little is a direct investment in a more resilient Reno.

Mentorship is a Necessity

BBBSNN believes mentoring has become a necessity for our youth, not a luxury. This idea is fueled by recent findings that mentorship is the single most effective way to have a positive impact on the trajectory of our youth’s educational, economic, and social lives.

According to The Long-Term Impacts of Mentors conducted by the Harris Poll and published with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, our youth are looking for that authentic, one-on-one connection more than anything to empower them to bridge these gaps.
