Paint the Town Green Nevada: Local Community Champions Youth Empowerment

RENO, NV – August 18, 2025 – Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada (BBBSNN) today announced the launch of Paint the Town Green Nevada, a new community-wide initiative designed to elevate awareness and deepen engagement among the local community to inspire more mentors for local youth. From September 14-20, 2025, businesses and organizations across Northern Nevada are invited to visibly champion the transformative power of mentorship. 

The Impact of Mentorship

BBBSNN operates under the belief that every child has the ability to succeed. By creating meaningful matches between mentors and youth, BBBSNN offers continuous support to program participants. The 2024 National Economic Impact Study shows that mentoring has positive, long-term effects. Littles in BBBS programming:

• Are 20% more likely to pursue post-secondary education and training, fueling a stronger, more skilled workforce. 
• Earn 15% more over their lifetimes, strengthening financial independence and consumer spending. 
• Grow up to help reduce the socioeconomic gap by two-thirds. 

Paint the Town Green Nevada Mission

This is more than just a campaign; it’s an invitation for our entire community to stand united as Defenders of Potential. This exciting initiative, taking place September 14-20, 2025, is specifically designed to inspire action and address the critical need for more “Bigs.” This is not a fundraiser. Instead, BBBSNN is asking local businesses and organizations to visually demonstrate their support for mentorship by incorporating the color green into their establishments.
